Additive Damage Accumulator

Enter your base hit damage and additive stat rolls to calculate your total additive multiplier.

Diablo IV Additive Damage Bucket [ + ] Estimator

In Diablo IV, the vast majority of secondary damage stats on gear roll as additive bonuses, denoted by the "+" sign (e.g. +35% Damage to Close Enemies). While each stat looks like a separate category, they are actually summed together into a single, massive **Additive Damage Bucket**. Use this calculator to compile your additive stats and evaluate their marginal utility.

How the Additive Damage Bucket Works in Diablo IV

The additive damage bucket is the largest stat category in the game. When rolling stats on weapons, rings, and armor, any affix with a "+" symbol contributes directly to this bucket. Unlike multiplicative [x] multipliers, which multiply your overall damage independently, additive modifiers are summed together before modifying your base damage. The basic formula is:

Total Additive Multiplier = 1 + (Damage vs Close % + Damage vs Distant % + Elemental % + Core % + Other Additive %) / 100

Because all of these stats share the same bucket, the **marginal relative gain** from adding more additive damage declines rapidly as your total grows. If your current additive bucket totals +300% (a 4.0x multiplier), adding another +50% Close damage only increases your total multiplier to 4.5x, which represents a small **+12.5%** relative damage gain. If your total is already +800% (a 9.0x multiplier), adding that same +50% yields a meager **+5.5%** relative gain. This is why balancing this bucket with other separate multipliers is crucial.

Balancing Additive vs. Multiplicative Buckets

To avoid severe diminishing returns, players should aim to balance their additive bucket with other multiplicative systems like Critical Strike, Vulnerable status, and global aspects. Frequently Asked Questions

Does Damage vs. Crowd Controlled enemies stack here?

Yes. Modifiers like "+% Damage to Slowed/Stunned/Frozen" all sum together in the additive bucket when hitting active targets. To analyze crowd control modifiers, use the Damage vs. Crowd Controlled Enemies Calculator.

Do main stats scale additively or multiplicatively?

Your class's primary attribute (Strength, Intelligence, Dexterity, Willpower) scales as a separate multiplicative bucket, meaning it multiplies your total base + additive damage independently, making it highly valuable.

Are global aspect modifiers part of the additive bucket?

No. Aspect multipliers marked with an "[x]" symbol are in their own separate, independent multiplicative categories. They never sum with the additive bucket.
